The first par 5 on the course. The tee shot must avoid the bunker down the right hand side. A well struck second shot is then required to carry the huge fairway bunker and rough. This will leave you a short iron into a green guarded by a bunker on the left and water on the right.
An extremely testing short par 4. An accurate but not necessarily long tee shot must be struck to avoid the bunker on the left and more importantly, the water on the right. This will leave a short iron approach to a green that slopes from back to front but again must be struck well to carry the water that cuts into the front and right hand side of the green.
A long par 4 that doglegs slightly from right to left. A decision needs to be made as to how much of the bunkers on the left hand side can be carried, if any. A drive that is tighter to the bunkers on the left leaves you a shorter second shot which plays longer than its yardage because it is uphill. This is a very tricky green that leaves you a quick putt if your approach is past the pin.
This downhill par 4 does not play that long but again there is a bunker to avoid from the tee and water on the right hand side of the green. An approach that is over cautious will find one of the bunkers to the left of the green and leave a daunting bunker shot towards the water.
This par 5 has a huge lake down the entirety of the right hand side. There are also bunkers down the left hand side to catch the over cautious drive. It is important to plot your way down this hole avoiding the water and bunkers that guard the fairway and green. A 5 on this hole is always a good score.
Another excellent driving hole. Most players will need to drive left of the bunkers down the right hand side but some longer hitters may carry the bunkers and leave a shorter approach. The safer second shot should be aimed to the right as there is a catchment area short and left of this green that will leave you a tricky chip.
A par 3 that can be easy or hard depending on the pin position. A front pin position 'in the bowl' offers a glorious opportunity to hit a short iron close to the pin. A pin at the back of the green is much more challenging because you must carry the ball further and over a bunker that guards this section of the green. The entire carry is not that long from tee to green but it is all over water.
This long par 4 is ranked the hardest hole on the golf course. There is a long bunker down the left hand side of the fairway but it is purely the length of this hole that makes it difficult. The prevailing wind is normally into your face and only big hitters will be able to reach in two most of the time.
A fantastic par 5 that is the signature hole at The Oxfordshire. A Straight drive is required to avoid the bunker on the right and the water on the left. You must then decide whether to play a risky but rewarding second shot over the water to the fairway on the left to leave a shorter approach to the green. If you consider this too risky, you can play down the fairway on the right and then hit a slightly longer approach over the corner of the lake to a sloping green.
A strong finisher. Bunkers down the right hand side demand a tee shot hit to the left hand side more than you think. The approach to this green plays longer than the yardage suggests as it is uphill and the green is extremely long with 3 levels. It is important that you check where the pin is positioned and try and hit your approach onto the correct level.

Had a wonderful time on Sunday for afternoon tea. We were in the Lounge Bar in two squishy sofas with a fabulous view of the golf course, then wow our tea arrived, beautifully presented on a stand, so fresh the sandwiches and warm scone what a flavour, lovely selection of little cakes, fresh tea and coffee with offer of refills and a couple glasses of bubbly. We will be back it was so relaxing and the staff were very welcoming.
Had a fabulous stay here a couple of weeks ago, having returned to a venue I was a member at for a number of years previously. I was pleased to find the facilities were being maintained to a superb standard, the staff service was impeccable and the stay proved to be a wonderful experience. Thank you to Mark in the gym who made us so welcome.
Excellent hotel for both business & leisure. 5 minutes from the M40 with easy access to London & the South of England. Fabulous golf course, suitable for scratch golfers but with a variety of tee's to suit the novice.
